1saac Tour – Days 9 -11

Chips and gravy!  They must be getting north!  Officially over half way!

From Bridgnorth to Nantwich.  After a disturbed night in Bridgnorth, live band in bar right below our room, the positive being it drowned out Chris’s snoring, a fairly flat fifty miles, good for morale and reached Nantwich early enough to have a wander around town before meeting Helen Counsell for dinner.

Stats: Bridgnorth to Nantwich.   53.9 miles.  5 hrs 20.    10 mph.       2633 elevation

From Nantwich to Tottington.     Off bright and early for next leg to Tottington with task of navigating through Winsford, Northwich, Sale and Manchester.  Almost as tough mentally as physically and a very different days riding, very stop start. Still we knew we were up north when we stopped for lunch for a hot beef roll and it was served with chips and gravy!  Met daughter Robyn and new grandson Harley in evening, lovely to see them both. Back to the hills today I fear.

Stats:   68.1 miles     7hrs 39.       9mph.        2472 elevation

From Tottington to Borwick.  A relatively smooth start to day, going north via Accrington and Whalley, through the Ribble Valley, before a series of three brutal climbs taking us up and over the Forest of Bowland (not a tree in sight)! Vast moorland on the top with only sheep (calm down Chris) and grouse (not Chris) for company. Officially over half way, so no turning back. An undulating end to the day, though Chris thought even the downhill bits were undulating.

Stats:  71.3 miles   8hrs 12      8.7mph   And a whopping 5519 elevation!

  1. Well done you two. What an amazing achievement. If Rob was still here I know he would have something to say to you. Best of luck and keep pedalling!!
