A TRUE MODERN TROUBADOUR

Award-winning Reg Meuross was introduced onto the stage of the Albert Hall by Mike Harding as ‘one of this country’s finest’ and is a true modern troubadour. Reg has toured extensively for decades across the UK, Europe, North America and the Antipodes.

Accompanying himself on guitars, harmonica, banjo and dulcimer, a Reg Meuross performance is a journey into the heart, soul and songs of one of England’s most celebrated writers. Stories that need to be told; struggles that need to be known; injustice that needs to be uncovered; social conscience that needs to be.

‘classic, with echoes of early Dylan, Tom Paxton and Leonard Cohen’ – The Guardian

The “Titan of Twang “ and the “Concertina Crooner”  have teamed up in a dynamic new folk/acoustic duo.

GEOFF LAKEMAN, Patriarch of a folk dynasty – as dad of Seth, Sean and Sam and father-in-law of Cara Dillon and Kathryn Roberts – teases English and Irish folk, Americana and jazz songs out of his vintage duet concertina.

Both live on Dartmoor, so it was inevitable they’d gang-up musically. Expect self-written  and West Country songs, rattling folk tunes  and foot-stomping ragtime and cakewalk  riffs.

The duo’s relaxed yet sparkling stage presence together is bubbling with the “feel-good” factor.

Figurehead are an all female shanty group from North Cornwall who share a love of songs with a traditional, nautical and maritime flavour. If it contains a reference, however slight, to water, it’s considered it fair game!

The group originally formed as a bit of fun around a kitchen table for 5 women who shared a love of sea songs and harmonies. Over the years the personnel have changed and currently the members are Cath, Rachel, Sharon and Gill. They can be seen performing at local events and festivals around the South West. In 2023 they also enjoyed performing on Radio5 Live Sunday breakfast and appearing on CBeebies!

Steve Turner is a pioneer of highly sophisticated English concertina song accompaniments; he is a singer and multi-instrumentalist, playing mandolin and tenor banjo and accompanies himself on the concertina.

He has performed at folk festivals, clubs and concerts throughout the UK and toured America, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Holland and Italy.

Steve’s performances are characterised by strong melodies and a warm connection with the audience.

A WASSAILING WE SHALL GO!

After all the excitement of Christmas and New Year, yet still within the depths of winter, award winning folk musician Jim Causley brings you a magical celebration of the ancient West Country tradition of wassailing. Jim will surprise and delight you with a musical romp through the orchards of Cornwall, Devon and beyond, demonstrating the great variety of wassail songs as well as other songs of ritual and custom from the wheel of the year. A warming cup of ‘wassail’ (hot mulled cyder) will be served on the door to get everyone into the wassailing spirit!
