Philleigh Folk - Harbottle & Jonas, 11:30

04/10/2017

David Harbottle and Freya Jonas have busked around the world and since returning to these shores have built an impressive gig list covering the whole country playing at festivals, folk clubs and pizza parlours (!!) Multi-instrumentalists, (it would be easiest to list what instruments they don’t play) their sets are a mixture of traditional and contemporary with a touch of Buddy Holly and Mumford & Son thrown in for good measure. In short, something for all tastes.

29/11/2017

For our last offering before a Christmas break, we present Martyn Babb. Roger Bryant told us at Bude Festival to “listen to this man, he’s a great entertainer” and boy, was he right!! Martyn is difficult to categorise, a folk singer and musician, certainly, but he is much more than that. He is an MC, a comic, a teller of tales….. - the term entertainer probably best sums him up. We can promise a great start to the festive season……

Rosanna Ter-Berg’s striking performances have led her to be described as ‘super-charged’ with ‘unstinting virtuosity and personality’.  Roseanna and Leo were due to play during February 2014, but sadly the weather decreed otherwise. It has taken some time to rearrange a visit but at last we can enjoy this highly rated pair.  A varied and interesting programme with a French flavour has something for everyone.

Our final film of this winter’s season. Staring Rowan Atkinson, Maggie Smith and Patrick Swayze and filmed locally this tells of a vicar so obsessed with writing the perfect sermon that he fails to notice that his wife is conducting a dalliance with her golf instructor, his daughter is running riot and his son is being bullied. The arrival of a new housekeeper sees an unusual way of solving the family’s problems.

Relaxed format, with choc ices served in the interval and glasses provided so that you may bring your own drinks!
