Would you like to help bring the warmth back to Veryan Church?
If you have recently attended a service, wedding, christening or funeral in the Church you may have found it a bit chilly. Unfortunately after over 100 years of sterling service our old heating system finally broke down last year. A temporary form of heating has been installed but in order to keep the congregation warm and more importantly keep the fabric of the church in good order we need to raise funds towards a new heating system.
On Saturday 13th July the Annual Church Fete will be held in the Parish Hall and Old School Gardens and the proceeds will go towards the new heating system.
Now this is where you come in. We need volunteers to help with setting up and taking down and to man the stalls in the afternoon. We would also appreciate items for the stalls that will include the following: plants, cakes, nearly new, bric a brac, books and raffle. The tombola stall will take on a new format this year with every prize being a mug with a small gift inside it; therefore we would also appreciate donations of mugs and gifts.
If you can help in anyway big or small please contact the Fete Co-ordinator Mrs Ann Craven on 01872 501731 or email@example.com
The children at Veryan School are already playing their part. They are busy designing posters to advertise the fete. Prizes will be awarded to the posters judged to be the best.
Finally, don’t forget to put the date in your diaries and turn up to enjoy all the fun on the day. The fete will be opened at 2.00 p.m. by the 32nd Regiment of Foot who are part of the Battle of Waterloo Re-enactment Society. Entertainment will be provided by the Steel Roses from Roseland Community College and Mr Wacky. Cream Teas will be served in the Parish Hall.
