Local Florist Makes the Sunday Glossies

susannehatwoodLocal florist, Susanne Hatwood of The Blue Carrot, will be featured in this Sunday’s Mail on Sunday colour supplement, YOU.

Having been courted for over four months by reporter Claire Nolan, Susanne agreed to allow YOU magazine come and take pictures and interview her in her Roseland Organic Flower garden near Portscatho.

Susanne told Roseland Online, “Claire Nolan first contacted me back in February asking if she could come and photograph me for their magazine, but I wasn’t happy about how the garden looked at that time of year. When they contacted me again in May, though, I said I’d be happy to invite them as things had started blooming.”

Susanne’s success has grown over the last two years since changing from the plot’s beginnings as an organic vegetable garden. She now has almost 2000 likes on Facebook and has been featured in, and on the front page of many national magazines and international websites.

Susanne added, “I’ve been amazed at the way my flowers have been received and am always stunned when people get in touch and want to feature me. The garden being photographed by Paul Debois is a dream as he’s such a renown photographer and was such a lovely person, as was Claire.”

Susanne now mainly specialises in wedding flowers but is passionate about her low-carbon and organic roots, keeping as close to them as possible whilst maintaining her focus on beauty rather than provenance.
