Made in Dagenham

The catalyst for the 1968 Ford Dagenham strike by 187 female sewing machinists, this film plots their fight to ultimately change the Equal Pay Act in Britain – and eventually worldwide. Working in extremely impoverished conditions for long arduous hours which they must balance with their domestic lives, the women at the Ford Dagenham plant finally lose their patience when they are reclassified as “unskilled”.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said in hundreds of reviews, 5* classifications worldwide and the viewing figures. This is the feel-good movie of the year and one not to be missed.

Verdict: Simply wonderful; showing not only how Britain rules the world with stories like this but the people who inspire the films, too! *****
