Munitions Washed up on Vault Beach

The Mevagissey Coastguard were paged yesterday at 2pm, after a member of the public discovered a box containing live 20mm ammunition that had washed up at Vault Beach, Gorran Haven.

This was the second such find in two days, the first find being dealt with by our Police colleagues at Truro, Perranporth & Tregony Police

The team secured the ammunition until the on call Royal Navy EOD (Ordnance unit) attended from Plymouth to collect it.

This live ammunition is dangerous and if you see any on the coast please call 999 and request the Coastguard.

The Coastguard urge parents to discuss this with their children, so if they find similar items on our beaches, they know not to touch them and report it immediately.
