11.11.11: A new used car business, Abbey Cars, opened recently on the Roseland. Abbey Cars SW is the brainchild of veteran motor trader, Shaun Hocking, who, after 15 years experience in the motor trade intends to restore the good reputation of a stereotypically questionable business.
Shaun told Roseland Online, “My father had his own garage when I was a teenager, so I have had always had an interest in cars. I hope to achieve a good reputation for providing good honest cars for first time buyers or people on a budget. I want to save the residents of South Central Cornwall time, effort and money when it becomes time to search for the next car for their son or daughter or maybe themselves. I have heard many a story of people being on the receiving end of bad customer service but I am prepared to go that extra mile and customer satisfaction is very important to me.”
Shaun, whose business is purposely based in an accessible position at the gateway to the Roseland at Reskivers, went on to confirm his commitment to customer satisfaction by telling us, “A few weeks ago, I travelled to Wales to buy a car for a someone’s seventeenth birthday. I left at 4.00 am and returned at 7.00pm empty handed as the car was not up to my standards. I then set off the following morning at 5.00 am to pick up a more suitable car on another 400 mile round trip. So when I say I go that extra mile, I literally did on that occasion… more like a thousand!”
Abbey Cars SW has an indoor viewing facility that allows for up to five cars at a time and offers viewing during winter evenings or late afternoons. The vehicles can be viewed both above and below by Shaun driving them onto a ramp.
Shaun continued. “I even have valeting packages from £10 and a “Pit Stop” style car wash for just £4 and customers may even get a nice cup of coffee or even a hot chocolate with marshmallows if they’re lucky!”
Abbey Car SW’s vehicles are under £2495 and currently include a Renault Clio, Citroen Saxo, Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Fiesta and Peugeot 206.
