Do you have any spare time or skills you could offer this exciting and challenging new project in St Just?
We are looking for people who could help with social media and marketing, advising on alterations and refurbishment to the building, experience with setting up charities and community projects, distributing leaflets etc. If so please contact either Mary or Graham below***.
For those of you familiar with the Outdoor Education Centre in St Just in Roseland, previously run by the Local Authority, but now closed, the community is working hard to secure it for the future.
Over the summer, you may have filled in a questionnaire about the centre, answers to which have provided valuable support for the proposed vision and objectives for future activities based there. It is envisaged that this will focus on water based skills and activities for youngsters, but the building will be available for community uses of various kinds, and the questionnaires provided many possibilities. It is felt that there is strong demand for residential use, extending this to adult groups such as cyclists, walkers etc.
Progress made so far:
Funds have been secured from the Lottery [Awards for All], the Parish Council, and the Church’s Charitable Trust to support the production of a business plan.
In addition, the project has been granted support from the Bright Ideas Fund which will provide a consultant to help draw up the strategic plan.
The Management Committee/Working Group is also continuing discussions with Cornwall Council regarding the purchase.
