Roseland ‘Finger Post’ Project a Success

29.05.12: A Roseland ‘Finger Post’ project has been deemed a great success. The project was funded by Councillor Julian German’s ‘ward funds’ and the final painting was finished on the ‘Finger Post’ last week by local adults and children.

The Roseland project was a pilot project that may see improvements to other fingerposts throughout the county.

AONB officer Nigel Sumpter who co-ordinated the project, told Roseland Online, “Thanks to Councillor German, Cormac and massive local support, this pilot looks like being a great success. We hope eventually to roll it out over the whole of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, enhancing the landscape which makes us special and which attracts so many visitors.”

The drop-in painting session last week at the Grampound Road Highways Depot saw children from Veryan Primary School and local historians, like local historical author Hilary Thompson, amongst those who helped paint the newly cast arms and they all received a certificate for their efforts.

There, too, was Jayne Briggs, Gerrans Parish Council Clerk and the team responsible for making it happen.
