Roseland Plan Update – July 2015

THE ROSELAND PLAN

Roseland voters are advised that a referendum on the local Neighbourhood Plan will be held on Thursday 20 August 2015, from 7am to 10pm.

The question to be asked of voters at the referendum is: “Do you want Cornwall Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for the Roseland to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

A Notice of Referendum and more information has been published on the current and forthcoming elections and referendums page of the Cornwall Council website at www.cornwall.gov.uk/elections.

The Referendum will be conducted following similar procedures to those used at local government elections. Poll cards were sent out on 24th July to voters registered in the neighbourhood plan area, which covers the parishes of Gerrans, Philleigh, Ruan Lanihorne, St Just in Roseland and Veryan.

Anyone who is not already registered can apply to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Anyone who wishes to vote by post or proxy must apply in writing. Please note the following deadlines:

Application Deadline for receipt
New applications to register to vote Tuesday 4 August 2015
New applications to vote by post or to cancel or amend an existing postal/proxy vote 5pm on Wednesday 5 August 2015
New applications to vote by proxy 5pm on Wednesday 12 August 2015
Applications for an emergency proxy vote (in cases where unforeseen illness, incapacity, occupation, service or employment occurs after the deadline for proxy applications) 5pm on Thursday 20 August 2015

Please contact Electoral Services on 01209 614373 or visit www.cornwall.gov.uk/elections for further information.

The next meeting of the Roseland Plan Steering Group will be held at 7 pm on Monday 24th August at Gerrans Memorial Hall. All are welcome to attend.

  1. Thought for the day… should all those who live in the houses built in the last 80 years in the Roseland be legally obliged to vote NO in today’s local plan referendum on the basis that if the villages within this referendum area had not evolved, then they would not be here today! Also where are the local trades going to work?
