Roseland Resident’s Plea to Rediscover Her Past

09.06.11: Roseland Resident, Lesley Heath, was recently clearing out her mother’s loft when she stumbled across a ¼ inch reel-to-reel tape with “Christmas 1960” written on it; and the memories came flooding back.

Every other year as a child, Lesley would drive up to Birmingham to her grandmother’s with her family for Christmas. It was such an exciting time for them that Lesley and her siblings would invariably stay up till all hours giggling and talking. One year, unbeknown to Lesley at the time, her father decided to lug a huge Brunnel reel-to-reel tape recorder into the car with them and, on arriving at the grandparent’s house, sneak it upstairs and slip it under the bed to record his over-active children in their play.

On discovering the reel-to-reel tape now, Lesley is of course only too keen to listen back to her childhood fun for the very first time, but she doesn’t have a reel-to-reel tape player to do so; only the old Brunnel which unfortunately now has a broken band and cannot play the tapes.

Can you help? Do you have, or do you know someone who has a ¼ inch reel-to-reel tape player that would enable Lesley not only to listen to her late father’s childhood recordings, but to lift them off for prosperity? If so, Lesley would dearly like to hear from you. You can contact her on 01872 501433 or email us: mark@roselandonline.co.uk and we’ll put you in touch… here’s to a happy outcome!
