The Roseland Churches Choir
Father Doug Robins took the initiative to explore what interest there might be for the formation of a travelling Roseland choir, and the response was overwhelming. After producing over twenty positive reactions, Robin Hart was recruited as Choirmaster and rehearsals commenced in June, 2009 – putting an end to the hole created by the lack of choirs in any of the five Roseland Churches.
The Choir made its debut performance on Sunday 30th August, singing evensong at Ruan Lanihorne as part of the Feast Day celebrations for St. Rumons. The reception was enthusiastic and the general consensus was that the standard was high and it had been a very promising start to the venture. Invitations resulted from other churches for similar involvements.
In consequence at a meeting of the choir, the project was formalised with the confirmation of Robin Hart as Director of Music, and the election of Graham Pauncefort, as Chairman.
Practices will be held every Monday at 7.00 p.m. at Veryan Parish Church. Prospective members will be most welcome, Tenors being particularly in short supply. Some ability to read music is useful though not essential. Anyone interested should phone Robin Hart on 01872 501677 or Graham Pauncefort on 01872 580001.
