Update on Portscatho Post Office

Cllr Julian German has asked Roseland Online to update locals on this letter he’s received with regards Portscatho Post Office. We will keep you updated when new news transpires:

Dear Cllr German,

Thank you for your recent email about the situation at Portscatho Post Office.

Firstly, I am sorry that the service had to close without prior warning and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to you and your constituents whilst we explore ways to restore service.  As you will know from previous replies from colleagues in our customer care team, the branch closure related to a contractual matter, which as you might expect is a private one between Post Office Ltd and the operator that runs the branch, and one that will need to be concluded before we can proceed with any restoration of service options.  We are doing all we can to expedite this process. 

However, separately, I have been advised that there is interest in the current business and Post Office from a third party, which is not unhelpful as we consider the quickest way to restore services to the community.  We will do our best to keep local stakeholders updated on our plans to restore service, I have updated the local MP, Sarah Newton and one of my colleagues has similarly been in touch with the Clerk of the local Parish Council.

In closing, I would like to reassure you that we totally committed to restore a Post Office service to the community at the earliest opportunity.
