WI – A Special Organisation For Women

wi-cornwall-logoWould it surprise you to know that the largest women’s organisation in this country is the WI? Nationally, it has over 210,000 members. At heart, the WI aims to provide educational opportunities for women and to improve the world in which we live.

The main focus for members is their local WI, but additional possibilities are provided at both county and national level. Members are able to participate in all sorts of activities, such as talks, workshops, visits, competitions and campaigns.

wi-logoEducational and personal development topics are diverse, but include art, cookery, craft, gardening, history, literature, music, the natural world, sport and travel. Public affairs topics are equally varied; examples of current WI campaigns and initiatives include The Great Food Debate (about food security), Love your Libraries, More Midwives, and SOS for High Streets and Town Centres.

We are fortunate to have several WI branches on the Roseland. 1. I regularly give talks to the W.I., U3A and writers’ groups, and would be pleased to give a talk to the Tregony WI. I am the author of 3 books on walks, the most recent being WALKS IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF POLDARK, also WALKS IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CORNISH WRITERS and DISCOVER CORNWALL. I am also a freelance journalist, singer and poet.
I look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, Sue Kittow
