1saac Tour – Days 12 & 13

The boys have arrived in Scotland!!

From Borwick to Appleby.  As you can guess a shorter day, but very welcome. A battle against route, terrain, poor weather conditions and a good deal of fatigue on both our parts. Which parts are those I hear you cry?  Not telling!  Still plenty of good riding and the bonus of a 2.5 mile downhill descent into Appleby. One of those where you stick your legs out and go weeee!  Unfortunately Chris took it as a command and wet himself! (no he didn’t.)

Stats: 41.1 miles  4hrs 24.   9.21mph. 3 723 elevation

From Appleby to Gretna. Chris decided the end of yesterday was quite tough, not unsurprisingly it was still tough this morning.  However, once over first 18 miles, a stop for coffee and check of the bikes in Penrith, the cycling was much easier, though a persistent headwind slowed us up a bit. Cycled passed a radio mast in Skelton, the tallest structure in Britain at 365 metres high. On through Carlisle and finally to The Dark Side, Scotland and Gretna. Sorry to disappoint everyone but there will be no wedding tomorrow as Chris has got a headache!

Stats: 54.1 miles   5hrs 32.    9.84mph  2539 elevation

  1. keep it up guys……im exhausted just thinking about what you did already. if you are near Dumfries try the deep fried black pudding in batter. its much more nutritious than the deep fried Mars bar!
    Good luck
