PBHH Ltd, owners of the former Pendower Beach House Hotel on the Roseland Peninsula, is inviting stakeholders and members of the local community to join its public consultation event on Monday 05 June, where its revised plans for the regeneration of the disused and largely derelict former 'pink hotel', will be presented.
The aim of the consultation is to gain feedback on the new plans, which are much changed from those outlined in 2019/20. Removing all previously proposed residential apartments, the latest plans are 25% smaller in scale, and reflect feedback from the Parish Councils of Philleigh, Gerrans and Veryan, and the Friends of Pendower Beach organisation.
Designed to protect the sensitive local environment and to provide year-round economic benefit to the local economy, the plans for a destination aparthotel consist of a reduced 2-storey scheme encompassing 23 two and three bed family self-catering holiday-let suites, a public restaurant with 40 internal and 32 external covers, and a café and shop for use by self-catering visitors and beachgoers during the day and evening.
Please join us to view models, CGIs, and presentation boards. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and comment on the proposed plans, which are designed to breathe life back into what has become a sadly neglected site.
The plans include £1m stabilisation work to protect road access to Pendower Beach and its slipway - future proofing Rocky Lane against coastal erosion.

We are raising money to replace eighteen elderly defibrillators. These machines can and have saved lives, but many are old and they are beginning to fail.
We are having an event in Portscatho with cakes and crafts for sale and a game - can you win one of our sparkly hedgehogs or another great prize?
Please support this, we must keep this lifesaving network alive.

When Harold Spooks is sprung from prison in order to tell the gang where in the hotel he stashed the loot, it seems that everything is going to plan. Unfortunately, he’s the wrong Harold Spooks and this Harold has no idea where the money is hidden. He’s also a bit of an idiot and liable to give the game away at any moment. Add a few wacky women - Norah, the man-eating manageress, Edna who is always interrupting, and the redoutable Mrs Fletcher-Brewer and you are in for a farce and a half!

Join our tours by local expert Lawrence Holmes and the ROC team and hear the stories behind what went on in a nuclear bunker and the neighbouring starfish bunker. The nuclear bunker is the only preserved ROC nuclear bunker in the south west open to the public on a regular basis and the decoy command bunker is the only known preserved one of its type in the UK. Together they make Veryan Bunkers a unique site to visit.

In the lovely acoustic of Gerrans church you can hear Sam Freeguard tell his story and Thomas Bowes providing the magic playing 12 of Paganini's fiendish Caprices.

First and only performance in Cornwall
It’s not often that an opportunity comes along to put on the only concert that an internationally renowned folk duo are performing in Cornwall. Not many people may be familiar with the name, Hungrytown, but they come with enthusiastic reviews, both from performances on their own turf of the United States, and also from previous tours of the UK, Europe and New Zealand.
St Symphorian Church, Veryan, will be hosting the duo on Tuesday, 10 October at 7.30 pm. Children under the age of 16 will be admitted free of charge provided they are accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets may be obtained from Cornwall Riviera Box Office, telephone 01726 63513, or by using the QR code which can be found on posters.
They began their tour of the UK in Argyll on 9 September, then to the very north of mainland Scotland at Thurso, before travelling extensively around England. The nearest to our concert being in east Devon. They return at the end of October to set off on another extensive tour of the United States, ranging from Massachusetts to New Mexico, from November to April 2024. We are lucky to have them in Cornwall.

REACT invite you to our screening of the inspiring Cornish film
Hungry for Change by Cornwall Climate Care at The Harbour Club, Portscatho (TR2 5HH) on Tuesday 14th November at 7pm
We import nearly 50% of all our food in the UK, and waste one-third of it - so it is unsurprising that the food we eat and the way we produce it is responsible for a huge part of our carbon emissions. Cornwall Climate Care's Hungry for Change, looks at our reliance on this intensive, hyper-globalised, fossil fuel-driven food system - which is itself becoming more and more vulnerable to climate shocks. The film is presented by forager Josh Quick, who asks whether there are ways of producing more of our food locally and in more imaginative, but less damaging, ways. It takes a fascinating and inspiring look at a whole range of stories about hope, resilience and people doing some extraordinary things in Cornwall to counter the impacts of our broken food system.
Click here to watch the film trailer https://drive.google.com/file/d/116iAE6fdv5VOnttd7EtUBAi3X3BEYPa0/view
There will be time afterwards for discussion about this thought-provoking film, and what it means for the Roseland. This is an opportunity to share thoughts, knowledge and experience, as well as to discuss practical steps we can take on the Roseland.
The film lasts 30 minutes and is family friendly- so all generations are welcome! And please share this invitation with friends and family!
If you are able to come please car share if possible.
