Dear all, as a result of the latest Government Guidance, we have had to take the decision to radically alter our patient facing services.
With effect from Tuesday 24th March the service we offer patients will be as follows:-
ALL patients requesting an appointment will be given a telephone slot with the duty doctor in the first instance. We will not be able to pre-book ANY appointments at all. The duty doctor will determine:
- If the patient needs to be seen
- If the answer to that is yes, the duty doctor will give the patient an appropriate appointment – this may be at either Portscatho or Tregony Surgery, depending on symptoms.
- If possible, the issue will be dealt with over the telephone in an attempt to reduce patient traffic and risk to the population/staff/clinicians.
- Appointments for the Practice Nurse will only be those that are clinically essential and will only take place at Portscatho.
St Mawes will be closed to patients. Medications and prescriptions left at St Mawes will be brought up to Portscatho and patients will be contacted as a matter of urgency. Any patients needing delivery will be actioned.
Portscatho – will be open from 08:30 hrs to 17:00 hrs Monday to Friday: Please do not come into the surgery unless you have been asked to, or need to collect medication.
Tregony – will be open from 08:30 to 18:30 hrs Monday to Friday – BUT ONLY FOR PATIENTS NEEDING CLINICALLY URGENT ATTENTION BY APPOINTMENT ONLY – medication will be available to collect from Portscatho, but as above any patients needing delivery will be actioned.
We appreciate this is a huge change, but we hope our patients will understand that by doing this, we are able to remain open, even if it is under different circumstances and this is far better than a total closure.
Anyone with any queries may phone Portscatho Surgery but please be aware that understandably, we are having a huge number of calls at the moment. We have staff shortages and so consequently, may take a moment to answer the phone. Please be patient.
We are doing our very best under really difficult circumstances and we really appreciate your support.
