Cornwall Air Ambulance’s Airport Charity Run

12.01.12: Cornwall Air Ambulance is urging South Central Cornwall residents to get involved in their ‘Runway Runaround” on 25th March at Newquay Airport. This one-off fund raising event to help raise funds for this much needed charity is a 10k run around Newquay Airport, taking in their new hangar building, the runway and the terminal buildings, and there’s a 4km run for those who don’t think they can make the bigger one. It’s a unique opportunity to take part in a never-before fundraising event airside at Newquay Airport.

CAA Projects Officer & eTail Coordinator, Nicole Hawkesford, told Roseland Online, “The run is suitable for people of all ages and abilities and while there are some serious sportspeople taking part we’re also encouraging families and people who just want to have a go to join in – you can even run it in fancy dress if you fancy it! – and the route is also suitable for wheelchair users.”

Entry costs £12 ahead of the day (£15 on the day) for the 10k option, and £5 in advance or £6 on the day for the 4k option. However, they are asking entrants to raise as much sponsorship as possible – and there will be a price for the individual and the organisation who raises the most sponsorship money! The run is also ARC (Association of Running Clubs) affiliated, so members of affiliated running clubs can enter for £12 ahead of the day (or £10 on the day), too.

Nicole added, “At the end of the race, competitors will also be spoilt rotten, as we have

–           A Free pint from the Sharps bar for the over 18’s

–           A Goody bag

–           A Sports massage

–           A commemorative medal

–           A pasty from Rowes

The first 200 runners to register will also get a limited edition Runway Runaround T-shirt.”

Cornwall Air Ambulance have had great support from Newquay Airport and Cornwall Council on this event and also from Sharps, Rowes, Personal Best Running, In Safe Hands, Glendorgal Hotel and Atlantic FM.
