Gerrans and Portscatho – Jubilee Events (as of 13 March)

GERRANS & PORTSCATHO PLATINUM JUBILEE COMMITTEE was formed following an Open Meeting on 15th February 2022. The group is co-ordinating celebrations throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, mirroring the national programme as far as possible with spectacular and fun events and activities.

On Thursday 2nd June at 9:45pm a Jubilee Beacon will be lit. Saturday 4th will be devoted to family activities in Gerrans and Portscatho, culminating with a tea party on The Lugger at 4pm.

On Sunday 5th everyone will be invited to join in a Big ‘Bring Your Own’ Lunch with Du Hag Owr in attendance. The same evening St Gerrans church is organising a flower display, exhibition and festival evensong, led by Roseland Churches’ Choir. This will start at 6pm and include music from between the reigns of the two Elizabeths (I and II).

Throughout the summer Gerrans Parish Heritage Centre is organising an exhibition “70 years in the parish”. And Gerrans Parish Council is purchasing Platinum Jubilee mugs to be given to parish children under 16: names should be sent to Chris Pope (see below).

Details of all the events are under discussion with individual working parties formed for each day. WATCH THIS SPACE, noticeboards, Roseland Online, Facebook, for further information as plans become ever more exciting!

More volunteers to help with all the events would be extremely welcome, so if you are keen to be involved in any way please contact Chris chrispope56@gmail.com or 07502088536 or Kate Greet at kategreet@gerransparishcouncil.org
