02.03.12: After major refurbishments during 2011, the Hundred House Hotel’s new Chef Patron, Richard Maior-Barron, will be focusing on catering for bespoke parties from intimate second wedding receptions for 8, to a marquee on the lawn.
Richard has over 20 years’ experience in catering and was the preferred caterer for Jane Austin’s house in Selbourne, Hampshire. His experience led him to Italy where he was invited to cook for the Bertolli family (world renowned olive oil purveyors), and after settling down in Cornwall, Richard opened the critically acclaimed Water Rail seafood restaurant in Looe, before moving to South Central Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula to take the reins at The Hundred House Hotel.
Richard told Roseland Online, “The Hundred House Hotel lends itself to select events, having impressive gardens with spectacular views, a woodland area, car parking facilities and also has room for a marquee on the croquet lawn. We can cater for a simple finger buffet or canapés through to a full silver service reception. All menus are tailor-made to personal requirements and we guarantee that you will be surprised by the cost, which are highly competitive.”
Weddings are a new arena for the Hundred House and Richard is keen for the hotel to be put on the map as a favourite venue in the coming season.
He added, “As part of your wedding package, you could hire our entire hotel for your guests, or perhaps the bride’s party may like to stay the night before the wedding to give them time to ready and prepare for the big day.”
To showcase the hotel, there will be a package of special events and theme nights every couple of months, the first being a Cheese & Wine evening on Wednesday 4th April.
