Mevagissey Male Choir will be giving three public concerts this Christmas, one in Mevagissey itself and two in St Austell.
The choir’s traditional concert at St Andrews will take place on Friday, 6th December, at 7pm when, once again, the men will be joined by the Mevagissey Ladies Choir and by the children’s choir from Mevagisssey School.
Eight days later, at 7.30pm on Saturday 14th December, the Choir will be performing at the St Augustine of Hippo Church in St Austell, where they will be raising funds for St Petrocs, the charity that supports the homeless.
Then, on Saturday 21st December, they can be seen at St Austell Brewery Visitor Centre, where they will be putting on an informal afternoon concert, comprising a mix of Christmas songs and the most popular pieces in their normal repertoire. Start time is 2.30pm.
In between, on Monday, 9th December, the Choir will be giving its annual private concert to the residents of Penrice House, the residential care home in Porthpean – a tradition that dates back to 1981.
Tickets for both the St Andrews and St Augustine concerts are £6 each and will be available on the door. However, St Andrews tickets are also available at Martins bakery in Mevagissey, while those for the St. Petrocs charity concert can be ordered through any Choir member.
Entry to the Brewery is free, but a bucket collection will be taken during the event.
Those who can’t get to any of the concerts can still enjoy the Choir’s singing with a purchase of their Christmas CD, ‘Sing for the Child’, available via their website – www.meva-choir.co.uk .
