There was a great turnout last night (Tuesday 19th October) for the launch of the St Just and St Mawes Heritage group website. Organisers Dawn Andrews and Alan January were there to greet everyone and have been working tirelessly to get this project off the ground.
Having had problems finding a suitable location for an actual heritage centre, they decided to create a virtual one with the hundreds of photos and stories they had been given through their facebook page. As part of the ever popular Roseland Festival, they launched the site with website designer Mark David Hatwood (now there’s a good looking chap!) giving a talk on how the site had been designed and its user-friendly design.
There was much interaction with the audience which included local historian, Chris Pollard and Roseland Festival organiser Christine Williams, as the pages were scrolled through with people adding memories and listing the people on the old photos. A great time was had by all.
The website is now live (www.sjsm-heritage.co.uk) and, whether local or not, everyone is encouraged to visit the site regularly, as it will be updated by Dawn periodically, to enjoy the photos and, hopefully, add to the content with any information about the people in the vast number of entries and add stories and memories they conjour up for you.
If you have anything you’d like to add to the site or say about its content, please contact Dawn under: email@example.com… and best of luck to them for all their hard work!
