St.Mawes school are delighted by the comments made during the recent Osted inspection. The behaviour of the pupils was excellent and the inspectors were very impressed with the school which they described as “like a family” with “high expectations “ for all. The inspection praised the “ambitious curriculum, supporting pupils to develop a deep understanding” and observed lessons in reading, phonics, science and physical education.
Leadership was described as strong with a can-do attitude permeating the school. “Leaders have given great thought to the age-ranges so pupils acquire knowledge well.” Teachers were praised for their knowledge of the curriculum and reading, and have “strong subject knowledge to teach it well.”
Staff and pupils are delighted that the dedication of all involved with the school has been recognised. Pupils feel safe and happy at school and staff were praised for “a high level of vigilance” concerning pupils well-being.
As a school we would like to thank all the parents, supporters, volunteers and children who have helped make the school such a special place to learn.
