Suspected Bogus Callers in the West Cornwall Area

This message relates to Police Log No. 218 of 26th February 2013. Local residents are asked to be vigilant after recent reports of suspected bogus callers in the West Cornwall area. These persons are described as being a black male, approx. 6ft tall, stocky build with short black hair, wearing dark clothing and a red jacket. Approximately half hour later another suspected incident was reported about a mile away where a white male with an Eastern European accent but also wearing a red jacket, was found in the hallway of a private dwelling. Thankfully no crimes have been committed at this stage. This type of incident is very rare in this area, however it pays to be aware and not take any risks when answering the door to strangers.
1. Keep your doors and windows locked at all time when not in the room
2. Where possible use your door chain.
3. Always ask for ID if you are not expecting or do not recognise this person
4. If in doubt and concerned close the door and dial 999
5. Above all do not let any strangers into your property!
If anyone has any information with regards to this please call 101 quoting Log No. 218 of 26th February 2013. Thank you.
