Triathlon Cousins Up Their Game to Ironman Status

barneyandsethTwo cousins, Barney Nicholls – who is the organiser of the Roseland Triathlon – and local plumber, Seth Toms, have decided to up their game after last month’s Roseland triathlon and have challenged each other to take part in an Ironman challenge this weekend for charity.

An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a 26.2-mile marathon, raced in that order and without a break and moved by Barney’s best man’s plight to fight throat cancer, they will be donating funds raised by their challenge to Clinical Oncology And Cancer Care at Treliske.

Barney told Roseland Online, “I remember hovering my mouse over the enter button on the [Ironman] website thinking that I must be a complete idiot. Now I’m not alone as Seth and I are both heading off to Bolton on the 4th of August to take part in what will be the biggest challenge we hope to ever face.”

The boys have setup a Just Giving web page where you can sponsor them. To do so visit: www.justgiving.com/BarneyAndSeth and needless to say, everyone here at Roseland Online will be rooting for them.

Update: Both boys have successfully finished their triathlons and are official Ironmen! Still time to donate through the link above.
