Hi, I’d like to raise a few points prior to Mr White’s presentation regarding the car park at Portmellon as I may not be able to attend on 19/7.
1 Work has already started with the shell of a cafe already in place, foundations laid for other building and I believe work done on drainage and power. If any of this needs permission then as far as I’m aware it hasn’t been obtained.
2 While I’m in favour of improvement in the cove it seems fairly obvious that the area for pay parking will be a lot smaller and I notice that there seems to now be approval to put double yellow lines on both sides of Portmellon Park down to the cove from the first junction. There is a need to manage parking on the road but surely double lining only one side would be enough. I can’t see how restricting parking would aid in the success of any fledgling business in the car park.
3 As Mr White hasn’t seen fit to speak about his plans then rumours persist that two new houses form part of the development. Presumably on part of the car park curtailing the space available for parking which doesn’t sit with the establishment and growth of several businesses in the same car park.
When the full extent of the development becomes public then further problems may or may not become apparent but for now I hope to be at the next meeting but if not I leave my points for consideration
