02/09/2017(2 events) – We have over 20 local stall-holders selling a large range of products including home-made bread, delicious cakes and Cornish pasties, organic meats, locally grown plants, locally grown vegetables in season, cut flowers, home-made preserves, local eggs and honey, hand-crafted items including cards, gifts, jewellery, artwork, photography, crochet and sewing, etc. Come and have a chat with them and find out more about their products. You can also indulge in a cup of tea or cafetière coffee with a slice of scrumptious cake for only £1.50 in friendly, relaxed surroundings. Meet up with your friends or neighbours and see if there's something that takes your fancy. See you there! Carnival Fete opens at 2 p.m. on the recreation ground with the usual wide selection of stalls and entertainment for all ages. Main parade starts at 6 p.m. from the car park up Fore Street and back down again. Road is closed for the parade. Entries very welcome for floats, walking entries etc A jazz band will be playing during the happy hour. |

The nuclear bunker is the only preserved ROC nuclear bunker in the south west open to the public on a regular basis and the decoy command bunker is the only known preserved one of its type in the UK. Raising funds for the village hall and church. – On Saturday 23rd September join mixed vocal group from Truro Operatic Society, 'The Top Notes of Truro', in the St Mawes Memorial Hall for an evening of music from stage and screen. Tickets are available on the door at £6, so just come along and enjoy some well know songs from much-loved musicals. The evening starts at 7.30pm and the bar will be open from 7pm. |

David Harbottle and Freya Jonas have busked around the world and since returning to these shores have built an impressive gig list covering the whole country playing at festivals, folk clubs and pizza parlours (!!) Multi-instrumentalists, (it would be easiest to list what instruments they don’t play) their sets are a mixture of traditional and contemporary with a touch of Buddy Holly and Mumford & Son thrown in for good measure. In short, something for all tastes. |

This concert will include works by Schumann, Chopin, Britten and leading 20th century Polish composer Lutoslawski. Yoanna will be accompanied by the acclaimed and experienced Rosie Richardson.

For our last offering before a Christmas break, we present Martyn Babb. Roger Bryant told us at Bude Festival to “listen to this man, he’s a great entertainer” and boy, was he right!! Martyn is difficult to categorise, a folk singer and musician, certainly, but he is much more than that. He is an MC, a comic, a teller of tales….. - the term entertainer probably best sums him up. We can promise a great start to the festive season…… |

December01/12/2017(2 events) Join us in The Square to turn on this year's Christmas lights! Carol singing with St Anthony's Noyse, mulled wine and mince pies! Rosanna Ter-Berg’s striking performances have led her to be described as ‘super-charged’ with ‘unstinting virtuosity and personality’. Roseanna and Leo were due to play during February 2014, but sadly the weather decreed otherwise. It has taken some time to rearrange a visit but at last we can enjoy this highly rated pair. A varied and interesting programme with a French flavour has something for everyone.

Beginning at St Anthony’s Head, this circular walk with David Hall takes you to Molunan Beach, Place Manor and back to St Anthony Head with opportunities to observe wildlife and learn the history of this area. Hiking boots or stout shoes recommended and bring your binoculars if you have them. £7 – Come and join us! Andrew Grainger of The Duchy Auction Company, will tell us of some interesting incidents that have happened in the auction business. Bring along an item that you would like valued, especially one with a particularly unusual story attached. £7 Roger Ryman, Head Brewer at St Austell Brewery since 1999, holds the IBD Master Brewer qualification and is an elected a Fellow of the Institute. He will speak of some of the secrets of brewing a good beer and we will be ‘enjoying’ it. £8 |
26/04/2018(3 events) Summer in February is a 2013 British romantic drama film directed by Christopher Menaul. Novelist Jonathan Smith adapted the screenplay from his 1995 eponymous novel. The film stars Dominic Cooper, Emily Browning, Dan Stevens and focuses on the early 20th century love triangle between British artist Alfred Munnings, his friend Gilbert Evans and Florence Carter-Wood. Free but donations welcome Valerie Besley will read extracts from her new book of short stories set on the Roseland through the ages. Their repertoire is wide ranging from classical to rock ballads, spirituals to musicals. Nick composes for Canoryon Lowen and prizes for composition and performance have been awarded by the Cornish Gorsedh. Canoryon Lowen is a mixed choir of 35 singers, based in the village of St Neot. £9 |

Over the years a stream of stories trickles between them: the Nevada Gold Rush, Peeping Toms, friends on the Titanic, WW1 and a carnival queen scandal. This is an epic tale, spanning 70 years of Cornish history, witnessed by two women bathers. Refreshments available. £9 – All abilities welcome.
