Falmouth based musician Will is fast becoming a Cornish icon with his interpretations of well known and less well known songs of the County. With guitar and stomp box he produces an intoxicating sound and in particular bringing his good friend and legend Harry Glasson’s songs to an always appreciative audience. Mr Faisel Baig of St Mawes chemist has very kindly donated a first aid kit for the all important H&S aspects. We also have official beach clean yellow vests or gilets jaunes as the French like to refer to them (no rioting allowed!) |

March01/03/2019(2 events) – Formerly Women's World Day of Prayer but using the same format. This year's service prepared by the women of Slovenia will be used by more than 170 countries on March 1st. The Roseland's service moves to a different church each year. Portscatho United Church is at the end of the Lugger. Winner of many coveted awards, A4 Brass Quartet is a leading UK young chamber ensemble. The combination of cornet, tenor horn, baritone and euphonium creates a distinctive sound. The Quartet has developed its repertoire for this unusual instrumentation, commis-sioning new music and composing and arranging music themselves. Its interesting programme ensures that this is an evening not to be missed. |

24/03/2019(1 event) – Matt Slater, Marine Awareness Officer from the Cornwall Wildlife Trust , will lead the first Marine Project event in 2019 by coming to Portscatho to train volunteers in two of the Shoresearch Survey methods. There will be a morning theory session followed by an afternoon spent on the shore at Porthcurnick. The fun will start in the Memorial Hall on Gerrans Hill at 1000. REACT stands for Roseland Environment Action Community Team. We are extremely fortunate to have as our speaker David Ramsden, OBE. founder and Chair of the Barn Owl Trust who is a national authority on the species. |

The workshop will be led by Lynn Edwards, a drama teacher with over the past 40 years experience. Patrick Gale reads from and discusses his latest novel, a bittersweet comedy about the transformative power of music on a boy’s life and the need to lay childhood trauma to rest to claim adult happiness. Orpheus is an exciting Latin ensemble brought together by a mutual love of Brazilian music. |

Although the church buildings of St Just in Roseland, Gerrans and St Anthony in Roseland will be our starting point, a variety of sources will be referred to from an early tenth-century parchment sheet recycled as a book cover in the Vatican library to early nineteenth century Rural Deans reports. Some of them were on holiday last month (what a cheek!) but they are now back, together with three new producers, so we will have a large range of products. These include Gill’s home-made bread, Carol’s pasties, a selection of delicious cakes, quiches, pies, etc, granola, organic meats and eggs, home-made preserves, local bee products (including honey - hooray!), bedding plants, garden shrubs and unusual seeds, children’s books, hand-crafted items including beeswax wraps, cards, gifts, artwork, etc. Come and see what we have to offer and at the same time indulge in a cup of tea or cafetière coffee with a slice of scrumptious cake for only £1.50, in friendly, relaxed surroundings. It starts at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth and finishes at St Mawes Castle on the Roseland Peninsula. This popular event is strictly limited to 450 swimmers and is open to anyone over the age of 14. Please note, participants should be intermediate or experienced open water swimmers. Hidden under tons of earth for decades, the battery at St Anthony Head was pretty forgotten. Now it's opened up again you can come and find out about the history of the place, going back through different threats of invasion up to when it was finally decommissioned. |

The tide on Saturday is not playing ball, so the sandcastle competition will start at 4 pm on Friday. There will be an added bonus of Jumping Out Jazz Duo, strolling musicians, who will keep competitors and spectators, entertained on the beach. Later that day, from 7-9pm, there will be live music from Weazeldust, outside the Plume of Feathers. |

In addition to the usual sailing races, this year we have selected some of the children from our schools sailing programme to join in with a coached racing event. All funds raised will go to Roseland Youth Sailing Trust and the RNLI. Please support us and buy loads of raffle tickets!! – A second exhibition of photographs by James Hatchley, celebrating the institution that is the St Mawes Sailing Club Junior Race Week. – A 2 acre garden, redesigned and planted over the last 10 years. The gardens are on several levels and feature large mixed borders, lawns, a pond and a kitchen garden. It is a monologue which follows the central character Fleabag over 3 days as her life unravels. Her best friend, Boo, has been tragically killed in a road accident leaving behind their guinea pig themed café, which is in dire economic straits. She might be willing to prostitute herself to save the café, if society didn’t deem this highly immoral. To add insult to injury, her boyfriend Harry has left her, and her conviction that he’ll be back within a fortnight is slowly waning. She could ask her sister for the money, but they’re not all that close, in part due to the demands of her family life. On the surface Fleabag may seem over sexed, emotionally underdeveloped and narcissistic, but slowly her vulnerability emerges and some uncomfortable home truths are revealed. Mr Faisel Baig of St Mawes chemist has very kindly donated a first aid kit for the all important H&S aspects. We also have official beach clean yellow vests or gilets jaunes as the French like to refer to them (no rioting allowed!) – Including the community table which is free for ANYONE in the community who has any fresh produce from their garden or allotment to sell. All they have to do is bring along their produce named and priced and we will sell it for them; even better they can come along and sell it for themselves. |

Acapella Moonshine is a diverse group of women united by a love of singing, sailing and the odd glass or two of alcohol! They have a varied repertoire which encompasses world music, folk, blues, Gospel, shanties and songs of the sea. Cornish Connection is a barbershop harmony chorus who sing a wide range of music in four part harmony acapella. Tuesday 17th September at 7.30 pm in St Ewe Church.
