Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is calling on local people to have an early Spring sort out to help families with life-limited children.

The charity has organised a dedicated ‘Donate it Day’ in St Mawes on Tuesday 12th March with a special ‘donation station’ being set up at St Mawes Memorial Hall from 9am – 1pm.

CHSW are asking the local community to bring donations of unwanted goods such as good quality clothes and shoes, jewellery, household goods, furniture, books, toys, games, baby equipment and more!

All donations will be sold in CHSW’s charity shops – including the specialist under 5s ‘Little Steps’ shop in Truro, and the CHSW shops in Truro and St Austell – to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West. Profits from the shops help CHSW to keep supporting local life-limited children and their families at the charity’s Little Harbour children’s hospice in Porthpean, St Austell.

Mary Murfin, local Community Fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Harbour, explains: “The idea is simple, just bring along a bag or two of good quality unwanted items to one of the donation stations on Tuesday so that we can sell them in our charity shops. We are in particular need of women’s clothing so it would be fantastic to receive bags of women’s wear.

“Our charity shops raise much-needed funds for CHSW and we rely on donations to keep them fully stocked. We are really grateful to the Memorial Hall for supporting us in this way and hope to see as many people as possible there on the day. Why not come along, drop off your pre-loved goods and join us for tea, cakes and a chat?”

CHSW offers short breaks, palliative, emergency, and end of life care to life-limited children and care and support to their families. Little Harbour is a friendly ‘home from home’ where the whole family can make the most of the precious time they have together: as a result, the rooms are often filled with the sounds of joy and laughter.

Join in the Donate it Day and help CHSW! Bring your pre-loved items to the donation station at St Mawes Memorial Hall between 9am and 1pm on Tuesday 12th March.
