Dear Dispensing Patient of the Roseland,

Thank you for continuing to use the Roseland Surgeries for dispensing your medications, a service that Roseland Surgeries are delighted to be able to provide.

With the increasing privatisation of NHS services it is possible that you may be directly approached by a number of different pharmacies – including online pharmacies – offering to manage your prescriptions and dispense your drugs. However, we would be extremely grateful if you allow us to continue to dispense to you ourselves.

You might not be aware that rural practices like the Roseland Surgeries are under extreme financial pressure at the moment. This is due to having a small number of patients but a large geographical area to cover. We do our best to run the full range of general practice services from our 3 sites in St Mawes, Portscatho and Tregony – but this only remains possible through the fees raised from dispensing. Dispensing income has also allowed us to introduce a medication delivery service for those patients who are housebound.

We are writing this not only to inform you of the situation but also hopefully to help you to understand that rural practice as we know it on the Roseland is under threat – and you can do your bit to support us at this time. However, we do understand that sometimes you may feel you have a compelling reason to change your supplier of medicines. If this is the case, perhaps you could discuss things with your doctor. We can then see if we can come up with a solution that will continue to fund the practice.

We do hope you will continue to remain with us and please be assured we will always endeavour to provide you with as good a service as we possibly can.
