Starring Charles Laughton, Robert Newton and Maureen O’Hara, the film tells the story of a gang of smugglers led by Joss Merlyn, landlord of Jamaica Inn. Using false lights, they lure ships onto the rocks, murder the unfortunate crews and make off with the cargo. Mary Yellan, recently orphaned, arrives to stay with her aunt and uncle at Jamaica Inn and uncovers its dark secrets.
