HOST is a voluntary organisation; a network of UK residents who welcome adult international students to their homes for a weekend, or Christmas, visit. The purpose is to give students an insight into the way of life in Britain. Students also share their own culture with their hosts. By helping students far from home to feel welcome in the UK, HOST contributes to international friendship and goodwill.
Could HOST be for you?
If you enjoy meeting people, if you are interested in other cultures, if you can offer an occasional welcome to your home… HOST could be for you!
There are thousands of students from all over the world at British universities and colleges. As well as pursuing their academic studies, many hope to meet the people and experience the culture here. Yet the majority have little access into the life of the country outside the campus.
By offering one or two invitations per year for a day, a weekend, or over Christmas or another festival, hosts can make a great difference to the lives of international students and their impressions of the UK. At the same time, the hosts have the interest and pleasure of making friends with well-informed adult guests from overseas.
Please note that HOST places students on a voluntary basis for one-off weekend and Christmas visits only. We are NOT looking for long-term paid accommodation.
