These meetings are run by the Kernow Carers Service and are a free service for unpaid carers to give them an opportunity to discuss the issues they face and have their voices heard in a welcoming and confidential environment, with others facing similar problems.
Many people are unaware of the help they can get because they don’t recognise themselves as carers as they look after a loved one or friend. Staff from Kernow Carers Service will be at the meetings, and will be able to give help and advice to carers, including making referrals to Carer Support Workers who work directly with individual carers to give them individual help and advice about a variety of things, including accessing benefits and services. Where issues can’t be resolved at the meeting or by a Carer Support Worker, we attend various other Groups such as the Carers Partnership Board and HealthWatch and are able to raise issues for carers to progress them forward.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday 27th January from 1.30-3.30pm in the Council Chamber, Truro City Hall, Boscawen Street, Truro TR1 2NE. All Carers are welcome and expenses will be considered to enable them to attend.
