In a rather unprecedented move, Roseland Community College have decided to join other areas in a campaign pointing out the major political parties’ commitment to schools in the upcoming election manifestos.

At an extraordinarily sensitive time with the election in the wings, the college’s pdf entitled ‘School-funding-a-guide-for-parents’, posted on their website and sent to parents and carers states:

Along with 3000 Headteacher colleagues across 14 counties I am writing to you in order to raise the issue of school funding and the significant current financial difficulties that all of our schools are now facing.

It continues: It would be naive to think school funding is the only issue affecting everyone’s lives but school finances are in such a dreadful state that we believe it is vital to urge you to raise it as a key issue prior to 8 June.

It then goes on to list the 14 counties taking part in this campaign before stating ‘The Issues’, ‘The Effects’ and suggested ‘…questions for ALL prospective candidates for Members of Parliament.’ You can read and download the entire letter here.
