Trouble on the Farm by Chris Higgins – Published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books, 2018
Bella and Sid are visiting a farm. There’ll be cows, chickens, a dog and pasties! Unfortunately, there’ll also be Magda.
A clever little book introducing children to the realities of farm life, the dangers of farm machinery and the reality of where food comes from.
The ending is a bit predictable and Magda should certainly “reflect on the consequences of her actions” (not that it would make much difference).
I enjoyed it and I imagine it would reduce most 4-6 year olds to fits of the giggles.
Caution: would-be vegetarians should be aware there are references to chickens and turkeys (and how they get from farm to supermarket).
