Tomorrow, Grampound will host another of its popular ‘Open Garden’ days. Traditionally the day has been held to raise funds for the church, but as the church decided against holding it this year, it is being held in aid of Grampound With Creed Village Hall and Recreation Ground.

Organiser, Liz Fisher, told Rosleand Online, “We have a lot of interesting gardens in and around Grampound and a thriving Garden Club, so the trustees decided to raise funds for the maintenance of the Hall and Recreation ground to support events there. Each of the Trustees were asked to come up with an idea and several of us are gardeners so it was easy to put the idea forward.”

Grampound with Creed already had a successful 1950’s style Garden Fete in June and have a ‘Call My Bluff’ style wine tasting evening later this month, so this garden open day is another activity to bring the community together and raise funds for the hall.

Liz added, “My garden hasn’t looked so tidy in years! There will also be a village market with all sorts of stalls including food, goods, plants and probably a second-hand book stall, and Tracy Wilson from Radio Cornwall will be available to answer your garden queries at Primrose Cottage garden between 2.00pm – 4.00pm, so hopefully this should attract the public in even if they are not gardeners.

The Open Garden day starts at 10am and runs through till 4pm and admission is just £3 with a programme available from the village hall (children under 14 are free). Refreshments are available with lunch at the Dolphin Inn, tea and coffee at the village hall and St Nun’s church and possibly in some of the gardens too.
