Residents from Portscatho and the surrounding areas enjoyed a Community Feast cooked by the team from the Hidden Hut. As well as a chance for everyone to catch up with each other, this was also an opportunity to raise funds for two projects. Firstly, funds will go towards a piece of playground equipment for Gerrans Primary School; secondly, funds were raised for Cancer Research in memory of Zoe Sheppard who was a well-known and fun figure around the village. In all, over £2500 was raised – a great effort!
Those attending feasted on paella whilst being serenaded before by our local shanty singers (now famous after their G7 performance) Du Hag Owr. The rains had passed over and the sun came out just in time!
Big thanks to Simon and Jemma for organising and overseeing the event and to Dan, Lee, Pete and Alberto for doing the cooking and giving up an evening off. Thanks also to Mark for doing all the ticketing and last, but not least, to Du Hag Owr for entertaining us!
