Have you ever fancied having a go in a boat but don’t know how to get involved locally? Here is your chance! St Mawes Sailing Club is running an Open Day on Saturday 8 June for ANYONE who wants to see what it feels like being out on the water. No previous knowledge or experience is required – and it’s absolutely free! The aim of the day is to give the maximum number of people, young and old, the opportunity to experience the enjoyment of sailing on our beautiful waters of the Carrick Roads. You will be going with an experienced helm or owner and equipped with a lifejacket.
Starting at 1030 on 8 June, we will have a variety of sailing boats for you to try out – you can choose or we can advise you as to the best one to try. There will be sailing boats catering for gentle outings as well as those for local racing. We will have a timetable of sailing slots throughout the day, which you will be able to book online through the Club website at www.stmawessailing.co.uk. The Sailing Club (opposite the Harbour Quay) will also be open, where you can enjoy complimentary refreshments, a paid BBQ (from 1500-1800) and soak up the atmosphere on our stunning terrace overlooking St Mawes harbour. You will also be able to meet Club members, who will be more than happy to talk to you about their boats and sailing experiences. There are usually opportunities to crew racing boats during the season so if you enjoy the sailing experience why not sign up to our WhatsApp crewfinder list and join in. Details on the website.
So, whether you’re completely new to sailing, looking to get back on the water or want to sail/race regularly, this is an opportunity you can’t miss!
