13.06.11: A very special event in aid of ‘Help For Heroes’ is being held at Caerheys Castle on 1st July with limited tickets still available. Prince Harry is the patron of the 10 events around the UK where Rob Caskie, Senior Lecturer at Fugitives Drift in KwaZulu, will be telling inspiring stories about the Anglo Zulu War. “Rob tells the moving stories with care, kindness and enthusiasm recognising the heroism of the Zulus and of the British soldiers.”
This exclusive event is hosted by Sally Gammell and her husband at The Vean, Carehays who told Roseland Online, “This is a wonderful event which we’re proud to be part of. Only 10 events of this kind are being held in the whole of the UK and as Prince Harry is the Patron, we’re even more proud to be selected.” (You can see Prince Harry’s message of support for this worthy cause, by clicking here). Sally went on to say; “There’ll be cream teas from 3.00pm and the event will follow on with Garden tours available from 3.30pm. At 6.30pm the marquee opens for Rob Caskie’s 7.00pm talk, introduced by the Chairman, and after that, wine and nibbles served in the marquee. It plans to be a wonderful event.”
It costs just £30 per person for the event, but as the overall costs are quite high, they are hoping for company and private donations, too. “If 400 people donated £50 each, all the ‘local’ costs would be covered for the benefit of the charity. If you would like to be a member of this informal ‘400 Club’, please send your donation to The Estate Office, Caerhays, Gorran, St.Austell, PL26 6LY making your cheques payable to The Vean and marking the envelope H4H. Please also state if you or your company wish to be acknowledged as a sponsor in the programme.”

On 24th May, the ‘Help For Heroes’ charity launched the expansion of Hasler Company, the new regional Recovery Centre run by the Royal Navy at HMS Drake at Devonport. It is tri-service and H4H is investing £22m to build a 60 bed unit and an amazing hydro-therapy swimming pool similar to that already provided at Headley Court.
