07.07.11: The Blue Carrot, the Roseland’s sole grower and seller of organic, Roseland grown flowers, will be holding Bouquet making courses throughout the summer. Owner, Susanne Hatwood, has had a passion to grow and sell ‘zero airmile’ flowers for three years and, after growing organic vegetables from her market garden in Portscatho five years ago, she adapted the business to follow her dream. She now creates arrangements for a lot of the top hotels and restaurants on the Roseland.
Susanne Hatwood told Roseland Online, “I want to create a fun atmosphere where a small group of around 4 people can learn bouquet making. This course is designed to dispel the fears of technique and allow everyone to bring out their creative side. By showing them the basic techniques of bouquet making, I’d like to inspire everyone to follow their own tastes and be brave in doing their own thing.
“The courses will be small to allow plenty of one-to-one and each participant will take home not only the knowledge of bouquet making, but their own hand-tied bunch with flowers from my organic flower garden. Refreshments will be served and, I hope, a lot of fun will be had by everyone.”
Susanne’s two and a half hour courses start on Monday July 25th and then on 7th August, 13th August, 20th August, 29th August, 11th September, 19th September and Sunday 25th September and will be held at The Blue Carrot flower garden in Tregassa, Portscatho.
Susanne added, “This course is a great treat for an individual or group and would also make a great present for anyone even or a fun hen party. And if someone has a particular date they’d like to propose, I’m open to seeing if I can fit them in.”
The cost is £50 per person which includes refreshments and their own hand-tied bouquet to take home. To book a course or to contact Susanne ring: 0752 7777419 or email her at susanne@thebluecarrot.co.uk – www.thebluecarrot.co.uk
