25.10.11: An exciting exhibition celebrating 400 years of the King James Bible is underway at Gerrans church this week. There is an array of banners showing the Bible’s history and a wonderful display of family bibles and maps of missionary’s journeys throughout the globe.
The family bibles are donated by many village families and show the respective family’s marriages and history; a rare and interesting insight into village life and history (Pollard and Thompson bibles pictured).
The children of Gerrans School, too, have created two wonderful works of art especially for the exhibition of stained glass windows and are on display underneath the original windows. There is a Fairtrade stall with many items for sale and regular readings from the church’s bible by locals as well as cards to purchase.
To visit this extensive celebration of local history and the King James Bible itself, Gerrans church is open to visit from 10am to 4pm each day until Saturday 29th October and there are refreshments available from 10.30 – 11.30 and 14.00 – 16.00 daily.
