07.02.12: Two businesses on the Roseland peninsula created a recipe for success when they joined forces for the Cornish Challenge, an annual competition held at Cornwall College on 6th February 2012.
Head chef Tony Duce (pic) and his team at The Rosevine took first prize with a delicious four course menu developed especially for the competition. The winning menu featured seasonal produce from local suppliers including Tregony based Kernow Sausage Company whose Peppered Hogs Pudding was combined with Mussel Soup for a spectacular starter. The main course of local Hare with Pears & Bacon also delighted the judges.
Tony Duce told Roseland Online, “All of us are extremely proud to win the Cornish Challenge and it’s a great way for us to kick off our fifth season, which starts tomorrow (Feb 8th). We are very lucky to have so many quality Cornish suppliers on our doorstep.”
Gavin Roberts of Tregony based Kernow Sausage Company said, “We are proud to be a supplier to many of the finest hotels and restaurants in Cornwall and so it was no surprise to discover that three of our customers were going head to head in the Cornish Challenge. Tony and his team did a fantastic job taking top prize and we are delighted to have been part of a winning combination with fellow Roseland residents!”
The Rosevine was competing against five other establishments including Truro restaurant Bustophers and Falmouth’s Greenbank Hotel, also customers of The Kernow Sausage company.
