29.05.12: In the wake of their successful Village Markets in the memorial Hall, Portscatho, two South Central Cornwall ladies will be expanding their success into St Mawes from June.
Anne Emmett and Maggie Bray, started fortnightly Village Markets in the Memorial Hall after the W.I. market there closed, and their locally produced and sourced food proved such a success, they are now expanding further afield.
Maggie told Roseland Online, “The Markets in Portscatho were very well supported by a loyal local base of customers throughout the year as well as many visitors and holidaymakers who were been delighted to “discover” our little gem in the heart of the Roseland. We have now decided to expand the operation into St Mawes and will be running our first market from the Memorial Hall in the village from Friday 8th June and thereafter every fortnight throughout the summer.”
The markets open at 10:30 and run until midday selling a large selection of preserves, cakes, tarts, pies, savouries such as sausage rolls, quiches, hommity pie (a Cornish speciality) as well as local bakers, Da Bara bread and locally sourced veg and eggs.
The Portscatho dates will continue, too, on alternate weeks, from 1st June, so between the two villages there will be a weekly market throughout the summer. For more information, contact Anne Emmett on 01872 580278 or Maggie Bray on 01326 270054.
