25.07.12: On the 4th August 2012 the third Roseland Triathlon will get underway, but they are short of helpers, supporters and/or Marshalls and the organisers have asked for new volunteers to come forward.
Founder, Barney Nicholls, told Roseland Online, “We are looking for marshals and helpers and would greatly appreciate any help your readers can offer. We will be holding a meeting on Wednesday August 1st at 7.30pm in the Harbour Club, Portscatho. If you are able to help on the Saturday we would love to see you there.”
This year the Triathlon has grown to include around two hundred entries, taking part in either a Sprint distance or Standard (Olympic) distance triathlon around the Roseland Peninsula, but without more Marshalls, it will be difficult to sustain the high standard the Roseland Triathlon has become renowned for.
Long time Marshall, Beryl Thomas, who has been involved since year one, told us, “It’s so much fun. Just to be part of this great success story and help both locals and visitors achieve their personal goals is immensely rewarding. Participants who come here each year tell me it’s the friendliest triathlon in the UK and it would be great to keep that standard up.”
The event raises money for charity and this year they are raising money for the Mermaid Centre who provides breast care treatment for people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
They have set up a JustGiving page where online donations can be made under: http://www.justgiving.com/RoselandTriathlon2012.
If you are unable to make the meeting on Wednesday August 1st at 7.30pm in the Harbour Club, Portscatho, but would still like to help, please contact Barney on 01872 580956 or email him under: barney.nicholls@roselandtriathlon.co.uk.
Let’s hope more Marshalls, helpers and/or supporters come forward to make this the best event yet!
