02.08.12: A newly named charity, which supports both people with any degree of hearing loss or family members of anyone affected, will be holding and open day on 3rd October.
The Cornwall Deaf Association will change its name to Hearing Loss Cornwall on this day and invite anyone who is interested to come along to their Truro offices.
PR Fundraiser, Jemma Roberts, told Roseland Online, “This open day coincides with the 81st anniversary of the charity’s founding and the realisation that our inclusive purpose (which remains as clear as ever!) – to support deaf and hard of hearing people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, while increasing awareness of their particular needs and difficulties amongst the community at large – was not fully reflected in our name. Many people thought we only worked with the Deaf Community, and while this is a large part of what we do, it is not the only thing we do!”
Everyone is welcome to meet the team, find out more about what they do and the support they offer. Light refreshments, tea and cake will be available to help the celebrations, which are at their offices in 3 Walsingham Place, Truro, TR1 2RP – just off Victoria Square anytime from 12.30-4pm on Wednesday 3rd October.
