Do you have a primary aged child in the Gerrans or St Mawes area but struggle with after school care?
Roseland Online has been told that Gerrans School is planning, with help from a grant from food company Kellogg’s, to set up and run a Kids Club from September 2014, offering parents/guardians wrap-around care for school aged children, should there be sufficient interest.
Initial feedback shows there is demand for this provision but they now need names and commitment from local families to ensure they have sufficient numbers to make it viable. They need to have families registered before they can move to the next stage of recruiting staff.
Once in place they will invite parents to an open evening to meet the new Kids Club staff. They plan to transport children to and from St Mawes school and are working with the community bus to achieve this.
Julie Elvy, Headteacher at Gerrans School, told Roseland Online, “Gerrans School is appreciative of the support from Kelloggs towards the wrap around care they are hoping to start very soon. This grant from Kellogg’s will really help our club and we are looking forward to spending the money on subsidising breakfast for the children, as well as buying some new crockery and cutlery and play equipment for the club.”
Organisers ask that interested parties complete this registration form (a separate form for each child), and with a refundable deposit of £10 by 18th June to:
After School Care Registration
Gerrans School
Tregassick Road
Portscatho
Truro

Cheques should be made payable to Gerrans School. There will of course be further opportunities to register children but only if they can make the case to set up the club initially.
