With all the wit and writing quality Michael Morpurgo is known for, this short story has been published to mark World Book Day on 3 March.

One day Jemima starts to feel ill: is it the result of too many acorns? Is it the boy’s fault? Or does Jemima have a secret? It’s true she doesn’t have many redeeming features: she’s greedy, she smells and she chases other animals on the farm, but the boy loves her.

So what happened next? Here’s the surprise: there are two endings and they’re both true.
