There will be 12 local beers and two ciders to tantalise your tase buds. Entry is £5 which includes a special commemorative glass and a token for your first half pint. Thereafter a half pint token costs £1.75 (so a pint is 2 tokens £3.50). There will again be magnificent food available to purchase separately with Sarah's famous pulled beef, home made burger, decent vegetarian options and snacks as well. Well known for his work as musical director of Duchy Opera, Paul's musical talents are remarkable. He's a conductor, composer, pianist, teacher, and has long experience of delivering hugely popular illustrated talks on a wide range of musical subjects. His intriguingly titled talk “Singing with Hammers –a Brief History of the Piano”will be making its public début at our February concert.

Maybe in August more than any other time of the year, our thoughts turn to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The RNLI are very active round our Cornish coast, particularly in the summer months. Our local station is at Falmouth where a celebration was held recently to commemorate 150 years of service.

You can also indulge in a cup of tea or cafetière coffee with a slice of scrumptious cake for only £1.50 in friendly, relaxed surroundings. Meet up with your friends or neighbours and see if there's something that takes your fancy. See you there! Grampound Carnival, 14:00 Carnival Fete opens at 2 p.m. on the recreation ground with the usual wide selection of stalls and entertainment for all ages. Main parade starts at 6 p.m. from the car park up Fore Street and back down again. Road is closed for the parade.
