Cornwall was last night crowned Best UK Holiday Destination for an astonishing eighth year in a row.
It was back in 2009 that Cornwall first won the title and has achieved this result over and over again! The public vote showed yet again that Cornwall was their favourite destination. If this was not enough, local attraction the Lost Gardens of Heligan near Mevagissey scooped a top accolade in the “Best UK Leisure Attraction” category. Cornwall’s success was announced at a glamorous award ceremony held in London and attended by close to a 1,000 travel industry people.
Speaking after the ceremony, Visit Cornwall Chief Executive, Malcolm Bell said: “Well done Cornwall! To be named as the nation’s favourite holiday destination for eight years is a truly incredible achievement.
“Each and every person involved in tourism in Cornwall should be proud of this award. It represents strength in our product, brand and future and is a powerful message to be able to shout across the world.
“Thank you to everyone that has contributed to Cornwall’s success and of course, to those who voted.”
